The NZWLA have put together a Development Squad to compete in the Asia Pacific Lacrosse Tournament (ASPACs) in July 2011.

The NZ Development Squad has been set up to create a pool of talented lacrosse players from which the Senior and U19 Squads can select players. It also enables club players to take that step further in developing their game in the 4 years between World Cups.

Training sessions for this squad will be free of charge for as long as we can make them free*. You will be coached by a NZ National Coach Gavin Higgins, have a fitness programme scheduled by a new Strength & Conditioning Trainer and have your very own team Physio! You will be part of an elite athletic programme to help make NZ the best it can be at this great sport! AND should you be keen and have the right stuff, you could have the chance to represent NZ at the ultimate women’s lacrosse competition – the Women’s World Cup in 2013!

Everyone is welcome, there is no application fee payable so come on down and join in the fun.

Upcoming events include:

  • Training weekends at College Rifles:  Nov – July
  • National Tournament in Hamilton: January
  • ASPACs International Tournament in Auckland: July

Players from the Development squad will automatically be considered to try out for the next Senior Women’s World Cup Team in October 2011.

What happens next? Simply email us at info [at] nzlacrosse [dot] com to let us know you are interested (please include name, email, contact phone, and what club you play for if relevant) and come along to the next training weekend (see calendar).
