Lacrosse Central Angels won the Auckland Womens Lacrosse Championship in an exciting final against the Harbour Hawks, which went to overtime for the second time in two years.
Hawks, who finished the League in third place, pull out all stops to lead the defending champs for the whole game. Marshelled by Tania Hollands, Kate Clark and Sarah Chesterfield, Harbour held the ball for long periods of time to break down the Angels defense and score. The Angels got back into the game with some great draw controls by Kerensa Watson, and finishing by the yougest played on the field Sarah Adams. In overtime the Angels score 4 unanswered goals to take out the Championship for the fourth time in five years. Final Score Lacrosse Central Angels 12 Harbour Hawks 8 (HT 3-5 FT 8-8) |
